3.25.16 Sometimes it’s the little things that can make a big difference for someone dealing with a chronic illness. Strangers from all over the world have been sending postcards to 3-year-old Ellie Walton, who has brain cancer. The cards are meant to brighten her day. The Spanaway, Washington, family recently told reporters that the messages represent hope. “There are so many people out there hoping she gets better,” Ellie’s mother said. “It’s going to make her stronger.” The Chronic Disease Coalition is sending a postcard to Ellie. Whether it’s advocating for policies to protect patients from discrimination, supporting research of cures or encouraging a little girl to stay strong in her fight against cancer, we can all work together to make the world a better place for those dealing with major health issues such as chronic disease.
